Boiler Installation Process
Exactly what happens from your first enquiry through to handover and aftercare, so there are no surprises.
- Gas Safe registered
- 12-month workmanship guarantee
- Clear written quotations
Most people have a boiler installed two or three times in their life, so it is entirely reasonable not to know what to expect.
This is our process from start to finish. Nothing here is unusual, but knowing the shape of it makes the whole thing considerably less stressful.
What we need from you
Very little, but these things make the job go smoothly:
- Access. We need safe, uninterrupted access to the work area for the duration.
- Clear space. Around the existing boiler and anywhere pipework runs.
- Someone present. Particularly at the end, for the handover and demonstration.
- Services available. Electricity and water need to be on.
- Advance warning of anything unusual. Pets, restricted parking, medical needs, or a specific room we should avoid.
What happens if something unexpected comes up
Occasionally a property hides something the survey could not reveal: corroded pipework behind a wall, non-compliant previous workmanship, or heavily contaminated system water.
When that happens we stop, explain what we have found, and agree how to proceed with you before doing any additional chargeable work. We do not carry on and present you with a larger bill at the end.
After the installation
You will have the manufacturer documentation, the Building Regulations certificate and your commissioning paperwork. Keep these together, because you will need them for warranty claims and when you sell the property.
Your boiler will need an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer. This is not optional if you want to keep the manufacturer warranty valid. Our own workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion.
How it works
-
Initial enquiry
You call or send an enquiry. We ask about your property, your current boiler and any problems you have been having.
-
Property assessment
We visit and survey the property: existing system, pipework, flue options, mains pressure and flow rate, controls and radiator condition.
-
Boiler recommendation
We explain which boiler type and output suits your property and why, including any options worth considering.
-
Written quotation
You receive a clear itemised quotation with no obligation. Nothing is booked until you are happy with it.
-
Scheduling
We agree a date that suits you and confirm how long the work will take and what access we need.
-
Installation
Work areas are protected. The old appliance is removed and disposed of, and the new boiler is fitted.
-
System cleaning
The system is flushed or chemically cleaned as required, and a magnetic filter is fitted to protect the new appliance.
-
Testing and commissioning
The system is filled, pressure tested and the boiler commissioned to manufacturer specification, including a gas rate and flue gas analysis.
-
Handover
We demonstrate the controls, explain the system and hand over all documentation and certification.
-
Registration and aftercare
The installation is notified under the Building Regulations and the manufacturer warranty is registered. We explain your annual servicing requirement.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the whole process take?
From enquiry to installation depends on scheduling. The installation itself is usually one day for a straight swap, or two to three days for a conversion or relocation.
Will you make a mess?
We protect the working area and clear up afterwards. Some work does require lifting flooring or removing boxing, and making good decorative finishes is not included unless specifically quoted.
What certification do I get?
Building Regulations notification, manufacturer warranty registration and your commissioning documentation.
What if I have a problem afterwards?
Contact us. Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months, and appliance faults are covered by the manufacturer warranty which we register on your behalf.
