Boiler Warranty

What your manufacturer warranty covers, what our workmanship guarantee covers, and the two things that most commonly invalidate cover.

  • Gas Safe registered
  • 12-month workmanship guarantee
  • Clear written quotations

There are two separate protections on a new boiler, and they are commonly confused.

The manufacturer warranty covers the appliance itself. Our workmanship guarantee covers the quality of the installation. They come from different places and cover different things.

Manufacturer warranty

Every new boiler comes with a warranty from the manufacturer covering defects in the appliance. Length varies considerably by make and model, and is often influenced by whether the installer holds particular accreditations.

We register your appliance with the manufacturer on completion so that cover begins properly. Registration is not automatic, and an unregistered boiler can leave you without protection you have already paid for.

Under our terms, we are not responsible for manufacturer defects, but we will assist you with a warranty claim wherever we reasonably can.

Our workmanship guarantee

All installation work we carry out is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion unless otherwise stated. This covers defects arising directly from our workmanship.

It does not cover the appliance itself, which is the manufacturer’s responsibility, and it does not cover pre-existing components that we did not supply or install.

What commonly invalidates a manufacturer warranty

Two things account for the overwhelming majority of rejected warranty claims:

1. Missed annual servicing. Almost every manufacturer requires the boiler to be serviced every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and requires you to be able to evidence it. Miss a service and the warranty can be void, even if the fault has nothing to do with maintenance.

2. Installation that does not meet manufacturer requirements. This includes an inadequately cleaned system, no system filter where one is specified, incorrect flue installation, or undersized gas supply. This is entirely within the installer’s control, which is why installation quality matters beyond the obvious.

Water quality and your warranty

This one catches people out. Manufacturers increasingly specify system water quality requirements, and a new boiler installed onto a dirty, sludged system can have its warranty affected.

That is why a system cleanse and a magnetic filter are included as standard on our installations, and why we will recommend a power flush where system water is heavily contaminated. It is not an upsell, it is a warranty requirement.

Under our terms, we accept no liability for faults arising from contaminated heating systems where recommended cleaning was declined.

Keeping your paperwork

Keep the manufacturer documentation, the Building Regulations certificate, your commissioning paperwork and every annual service record together in one place.

You will need them for any warranty claim, and a buyer’s solicitor will ask for them when you sell the property.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a new boiler warranty?

It varies by manufacturer and model. We will tell you the warranty length for the specific appliance we recommend, and we register it on your behalf at completion.

Do I have to service my boiler every year?

To keep the manufacturer warranty valid, almost always yes. Missing a service is one of the most common reasons warranty claims are rejected.

Does the warranty cover the installation?

No. The manufacturer warranty covers the appliance. The installation workmanship is covered separately by our own 12-month guarantee.

What if my system water is dirty?

Poor water quality can affect manufacturer warranties. We include a system cleanse and magnetic filter as standard, and will recommend a power flush where contamination is significant.

Who registers the warranty?

We do, on completion. Registration is not automatic and an unregistered boiler may not be covered.
