A boiler is the single most expensive appliance in most homes and the one you notice most when it fails. Getting the installation right matters more than the badge on the front: the correct size for your property, the right system type for how you actually use hot water, and a clean, compliant install that keeps your manufacturer warranty intact.

How much does boiler installation cost?

Straightforward boiler installations start at £1,650 + VAT. That figure covers a like-for-like replacement in a property where the existing pipework, flue position and system layout are all suitable.

Prices rise from there when the job involves more than swapping one appliance for another: changing from one boiler type to another, moving the boiler to a different wall or room, upgrading pipework, or carrying out remedial work on a heating system that has been neglected.

We give you a fixed written price after the survey. We do not quote over the phone from a guess, and we do not add costs part way through unless genuinely unforeseen work is uncovered, in which case we discuss it with you before proceeding.

Which boiler is right for your home?

There are three types of gas boiler in common use in UK homes, and the right one depends on your property, your water pressure and how many people are drawing hot water at once.

Combi boilers heat water on demand with no cylinder, which frees up space and suits most one- to three-bedroom homes. System boilers work with a pressurised hot water cylinder and cope far better where two or more bathrooms are in use simultaneously. Regular (heat-only) boilers retain the traditional cylinder and loft tanks, and are often the sensible choice for older properties with original pipework or low incoming mains pressure.

We will tell you honestly which suits your property. Fitting a combi into a house with high simultaneous hot water demand is one of the most common causes of disappointment with a new boiler, and it is entirely avoidable at the survey stage.

Sizing the boiler correctly

Boiler output is measured in kilowatts, and bigger is not better. An oversized boiler cycles on and off more than it should, which wastes gas and puts unnecessary wear on the components. An undersized one struggles to keep up on the coldest days.

Correct sizing comes from the property itself: the number and size of radiators, the level of insulation, the number of bathrooms, and the hot water demand of the household. That assessment happens during the survey, not from a postcode and a bedroom count.

Warranties and what protects them

New boilers are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by make and model. We register your appliance with the manufacturer on completion so the cover starts properly.

Two things commonly invalidate a manufacturer warranty: installation that does not meet the manufacturer’s requirements, and missed annual servicing. Both are avoidable. We install to manufacturer specification, and we will tell you clearly what your warranty requires you to do afterwards.

Separately, our own workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion.
